Kimono Grace Shawl Asanoha (Hemp Leaf) – Ivory
Kimono Grace Asanoha – Ivory
A timeless piece inspired by the beauty and meaning of traditional Japanese kimono.
This shawl is made from vintage kimono fabric woven with a neat asanoha (hemp leaf) pattern in wine red, gold and deep green on a natural cream ground. The regularly repeating pattern creates a calm, quiet rhythm.
The meaning of asanoha
Asanoha is inspired by the hemp plant, which grows straight and strong, and has long been loved as an auspicious pattern wishing for healthy growth and protection from harm. It was traditionally used for babies' clothing, and is one of Japan's best-known good-luck patterns.
Because it is a geometric pattern with no figures or animals, it is a thoughtful gift for people of any culture.
Vintage kimono × satin
Real vintage kimono fabric is carefully sewn together with a smooth, glossy ivory satin (polyester) into one continuous rectangle. Wear it as a hijab, a shawl or a scarf. The asanoha fabric frames the face with a refined look, while the satin adds fluid drape and a soft sheen.
One of a kind
Vintage kimono fabric is limited, and the placement of the pattern is different on every kimono. Every Kimono Grace piece is one of a kind and cannot be reproduced.
About the materials and vintage condition
The kimono fabric is silk from a real vintage kimono; as it is vintage, we cannot confirm its exact fiber composition. The satin part is polyester. Slight variations, small imperfections and signs of age may be present; these are part of the history and character of the original kimono.
Care (the kimono fabric is silk)
The kimono fabric of this item is vintage silk. Silk naturally has antibacterial and deodorizing properties, so after wearing it is enough to air it in a shaded, well-ventilated place, without washing.
- Dyed, hand-painted and embroidered fabric: The kimono fabric may be dyed, hand-painted or embroidered, and as it is vintage its exact composition is unknown. Water or strong rubbing may cause color loss, color transfer or damage to the threads, so please take special care. We do not recommend washing at home.
- Cleaning: Avoid washing in water, which can cause shrinkage, color loss and color transfer. We recommend dry cleaning (when soiled, or at the end of the season, is enough). Please send the whole piece, including the polyester satin part. For stains, please consult a specialist as soon as possible.
- Sweat & perfume: Sweat, rain, perfume or hairspray touching the fabric directly may cause stains or color bleeding.
- Light & storage: Silk is sensitive to light (UV), so avoid direct sunlight and store it in a dark, dry place, wrapped in a breathable cloth.
- Ironing: Use a low temperature and always use a pressing cloth. Do not apply steam directly.
