At WATASI JAPAN, many of our products are handcrafted from authentic vintage Japanese kimono and traditional textiles. Because each piece is individually made, every item is unique.
Please read this Return & Refund Policy carefully before placing your order.
This policy applies to both domestic and international orders. Where mandatory consumer protection laws apply in your country or region, those laws will prevail over this policy.

Returns
We accept return requests within 30 days of delivery.
Before returning any item, please contact us at:

* Photos showing the condition of the item
* For damaged or incorrect items, photos of the product, shipping box, packaging materials, and shipping label
Returns sent without prior authorization may not be accepted.

Return Eligibility
To be eligible for a return, the item must:
* Be unused and unworn
* Be in its original condition
* Have all original tags attached
* Be returned with all original packaging and accessories
* Not have been washed, altered, repaired, or modified
* Be accompanied by proof of purchase
If the returned item shows signs of use, damage, missing accessories, perfume, smoke, cosmetics, or other odors, we may refuse the return or deduct an amount reflecting the loss in value where permitted by applicable law.

Customer-Initiated Returns
The following are considered customer preference returns:
* Change of mind
* Incorrect size selection
* Ordering the wrong item
* Differences in color caused by monitor or device settings
* Individual differences in pattern placement
* Natural characteristics of vintage fabrics
For customer preference returns, the customer is responsible for:
* Return shipping costs
* Shipping insurance (if applicable)
* Customs duties
* Import taxes
* VAT, GST, or similar taxes
* Customs clearance fees
* Bank or payment processing fees
* Exchange rate differences
* Reshipping costs (if requesting another item)
Original shipping charges, gift wrapping fees, payment processing fees, customs duties, and taxes are non-refundable unless required by applicable law.
Please contact us before returning any item, as return shipping instructions may vary depending on your country.

Vintage Kimono Materials
Many WATASI JAPAN products are made from authentic vintage Japanese kimono.
As a result, the following are considered normal characteristics and are not defects:
* Minor stains
* Color variations
* Weaving irregularities
* Small thread knots
* Pattern placement differences
* Natural signs of aging
* Variations in texture, thickness, and sheen
Each product is one of a kind, and no two items are exactly alike.

Non-Returnable Items
Unless required by applicable law or in cases of defective or incorrectly shipped items, we cannot accept returns for:
* Custom-made products
* Personalized items
* Made-to-order products
* Altered items
* Used or worn products
* Washed products
* Items with removed tags
* Items damaged by the customer
* Gift cards
* Final Sale items
* Items marked “Non-Returnable”

Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items
If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us within 7 days of delivery.
Please provide:
* Your order number
* Photos of the entire item
* Close-up photos of the issue
* Photos of the shipping box
* Photos of the packaging materials
* Photos of the shipping label (if available)
These photos may be required for shipping insurance claims and carrier investigations.
If sufficient photos are not provided, we may be unable to process your return, replacement, or refund request.
After reviewing the information, we will offer an appropriate solution, which may include repair, replacement, or a refund.
Because many of our products are one of a kind, replacement may not always be possible. In such cases, a refund will be provided.

Exchanges
If you would like to exchange an item, please request a return first.
Once your return has been approved, you may place a new order.
Since many of our products are one of a kind, identical replacements may not be available.

Order Cancellation
Orders may be cancelled before shipment.
However, cancellations may not be possible for:
* Custom-made products
* Made-to-order products
* Altered items
* Orders that have already entered the shipping process
Orders cannot be cancelled after shipment.

Refused Deliveries, Unclaimed Packages, and Incorrect Addresses
If an order is returned due to refusal of delivery, failure to pay customs duties, an incorrect shipping address, or an unclaimed package, we reserve the right to deduct actual expenses incurred, including:
* Outbound and return shipping costs
* Customs duties
* Import taxes
* Customs clearance fees
* Storage fees
* Other carrier charges

Customers in the European Union and the United Kingdom
If consumer protection laws in the European Union or the United Kingdom apply to your purchase, you may have the legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods.
Return shipping costs remain the customer’s responsibility unless otherwise required by law.
This statutory right does not apply to custom-made, personalized, or other legally exempt products.

Return Shipping
After your return request has been approved, please pack the item securely and return it using a trackable shipping service.
Items damaged during return transit due to insufficient packaging may not qualify for a refund.
For international returns, please declare the shipment as:
“Returned Goods” or “Return Merchandise”
on the customs declaration form whenever possible.

Refunds
Once we receive and inspect your returned item, we will notify you whether your refund has been approved.
Approved refunds will be processed to your original payment method within 10 business days.
Please note that banks, credit card companies, and payment providers may require additional processing time.
Exchange rate fluctuations and international transaction fees may result in differences between the original purchase amount and the refunded amount.
