KIMONO ROBE OUGI
Black Tomesode Kimono Robe – Fans & Seasonal Flowers
One-of-a-Kind Upcycled Japanese Kimono Robe
A one-of-a-kind long robe handcrafted from an authentic vintage Japanese Kuro Tomesode, one of the most formal styles of traditional kimono.
Set against the deep black fabric is an elaborate traditional design featuring graceful sensu (folding fans) surrounded by seasonal flowers, grasses and delicate foliage.
The composition includes flowers reminiscent of chrysanthemums, together with slender leaves and waterside plants suggestive of iris, creating a beautifully layered Japanese garden scene.
Fine gold detailing and decorative embroidery add depth and elegance to the design, catching the eye without overwhelming the sophisticated black background.
Symbolism of the Design
The folding fan (sensu) is an especially auspicious motif in Japanese culture. Because a fan gradually widens as it opens, it is associated with prosperity, growth and an expanding future.
Chrysanthemums (kiku) have long been admired in Japan and are traditionally associated with longevity, nobility and refinement.
Iris-like flowers and seasonal grasses bring a sense of movement and nature to the composition, reflecting the Japanese appreciation of changing seasons.
Together, the fans, flowers and gold ornamentation create an elegant and celebratory design with a distinctly Japanese character.
Reimagined from a Vintage Kimono
The original Kuro Tomesode has been carefully transformed into a contemporary long robe while preserving the beauty of its traditional motifs.
It can be worn open as an elegant outer layer or styled with the coordinating belt for a more defined silhouette.
Because each robe is created from an authentic vintage kimono, no two pieces are exactly alike.
Only one of this design is available.
